Sodimedjo, mostly known as Mbah Ghoto (grandfather Ghoto), died on May 1st, 2017, according to the BBC. This Indonesian man was claiming to be the dean of humanity (146 years old).
Mbah Ghoto : the oldest man in the world ?
According to his ID card, Mbah Ghoto was born in December 1870, however, nothing certain since it’s only in 1900 that Indonesia began holding birth registers. Officials assured to the BBC that the papers of the dean of humanity had been verified.
This citizen of Java’s island in Indonesia, explained last year to the BBC that patience was the key and that he had “a long life because he was loved”. He was also known for being a heavy smoker.
“He outlived his four wives, his 10 brothers and sisters and his children”.

A longevity to highlight
The health of Mbah Gotho had recently deteriorated. The alleged dean of humanity was hospitalised on April 12th, 2017 because of the degradation of his health status.
Six days after, the old man had insisted to go back home, where he practically stopped eating and drinking for two weeks until his death.
