Announced in September 2023, IAWSE.org has spent a year structuring itself and engaging with various international stakeholders in the aging well sector. The goal: to contribute to the development and structuring of the silver economy at a global level.
As the world faces an unprecedented demographic shift, with the senior population expected to reach 2 billion by 2050, IAWSE is committed to addressing the unique challenges and seizing the opportunities related to aging. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for seniors worldwide by promoting innovation, health, well-being, social integration, and combating ageism.
Think Global – Act Local: the IAWSE organization was born from a simple observation
Demographic transition is a global phenomenon, with many solutions for aging well, especially technological ones, emerging internationally. However, the implementation of concrete actions must necessarily be considered at the local level. By 2025, the first baby boomers will turn 80: now is the time for the Silver Economy to accelerate its approach and build on its foundations. There is an urgent need to create an “Age-Friendly” society.
Share for Care: Sharing experiences and learning curve
IAWSE aims to contribute to the development of initiatives for aging well internationally and to assist in the development and structuring of the Silver Economy.
The common foundation involves engaging in a process of sharing experiences (both successes and failures) aimed at energizing the learning curves of the stakeholders involved. National specificities, differing visions of aging well, and diverse cultural approaches will also enrich a reflection intended to foster the creation of ideas and values.
On this basis, several “Share for Care” meetings among international stakeholders in the sector have already been organized and will welcome new participants in the coming months.
IAWSE: A collective and chapters
For the sake of agility, the International Ageing Well & Silver Economy has organized itself around a collective framework. The goal is to establish national chapters, with a European and global approach. The organizations invited to motivate their membership must themselves represent a collective interest: business associations, local clusters, professional federations, competitiveness hubs, etc.
