1 in 5 people (19%) in the UK have a disability

DisabilityPapworth Trust is a leading British disability charity. They aim to support disabled and older people as well as their families or caregivers. They have published a report which gives a general overview of British disability problems, including in areas like health, transportation, housing or education.

19% of people in UK have a disability. Among them, 7% are children, 16% are working adults and 43 % are pensioner adults.

Among the impairments, in 2012/2013 the most common were: mobility (57%), stamina/breathing/fatigue (38%), dexterity (28%) and mental health (16%). Elderly people are more likely to report multiple impairments, including mobility (71%) and hearing (23%).
