Wave Therapeutics has developed the first affordable and effective soft robotics cushioning technology to help solve the critical problem of pressure injuries in the elderly and disabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pressure injuries kill 50% more people than car accidents (US data), and are a global problem that is increasing as our world\u2019s population ages. These injuries occur in elderly or disabled patients who are not able to move frequently enough. Pressure collapses the capillary system, pushing blood out of tissues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without fresh oxygen and nutrients the skin can begin dying within hours. Currently, the most common way to try and avoid injuries is for caregivers to manually reposition patients every two or three hours, around the clock. This labor intensive method is burdensome to caregivers and intrusive to patients. Our cushions automate the work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We combine two clinically proven therapies to create a gently rolling wave of pressure-free zones beneath a patient. This improves blood flow and reduces the risk of developing pressure injuries (bedsores). Our recent data on tissue oxygenation levels and pressure mapping show that our cushions are providing 100% off-loading of weight, and improving tissue oxygenation levels to approximately the same as in healthy, walking patients. We have three US patents and one European patent granted, and numerous others pending. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are in the final stages of launching our product and expect to begin sales as a medical device in June, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aujourd\u2019hui, la pr\u00e9vention repose principalement sur le repositionnement manuel des patients toutes les deux \u00e0 trois heures \u2014 une m\u00e9thode lourde pour les soignants et inconfortable pour les patients. Les coussins de Wave Therapeutics automatisent ce travail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En combinant deux th\u00e9rapies cliniquement prouv\u00e9es, la technologie cr\u00e9e une onde douce de zones sans pression sous le patient, am\u00e9liorant la circulation sanguine et r\u00e9duisant le risque d\u2019escarres. Les donn\u00e9es r\u00e9centes sur l\u2019oxyg\u00e9nation tissulaire et la cartographie des pressions montrent un d\u00e9chargement total du poids et un niveau d\u2019oxyg\u00e9nation comparable \u00e0 celui de personnes en bonne sant\u00e9 et mobiles. L\u2019entreprise d\u00e9tient trois brevets am\u00e9ricains, un brevet europ\u00e9en, et plusieurs autres en attente. Le lancement commercial en dispositif m\u00e9dical est pr\u00e9vu pour juin 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
